Overview
Greenberg is Noah Baumbach's quiet, sharp 2010 character study, with Ben Stiller in one of his most restrained and least likeable-by-design roles. It trades broad comedy for something more uncomfortable and more rewarding — a portrait of a man stalled in his own life, written with Baumbach's usual ear for awkward, true-sounding dialogue.
Roger Greenberg is single, fortyish, and — by his own admission — doing nothing with himself. He moves to Los Angeles to house-sit for his brother, reconnects with a former bandmate (Rhys Ifans) and an ex-girlfriend (Jennifer Jason Leigh), and slowly, clumsily, falls for Florence (Greta Gerwig), his brother's personal assistant. Old friends turn out not to be friends anymore; not every plan works out. And yet Greenberg edges toward the idea that there might be reason for happiness after all.
This is the film that introduced many viewers to Greta Gerwig, then on the cusp of a major career. This Hungarian-market edition presents the feature in its original 2.35:1 scope with both English and Hungarian 5.1 audio and Hungarian subtitles — a clean, sealed copy for collectors of Baumbach's filmography or American independent cinema.
