Overview
Attila's Violent Streets never went through a real label. The Amersfoort trio pressed it themselves in 1988, catalogue NR 880314, and got it into the hands of the people who'd actually want it — local record shops, café gig circuits, and the cassette-trading metal underground the back cover's thank-you list quietly documents.
That route is exactly why it's hard to find now. Private presses didn't get repressed, didn't get distributed wide, and most copies that exist are the ones fans bought at the show. This one is signed in blue marker across the front cover by the band — Herbie Vanderloo, Arjan Michels, and Ton Holtewes — which puts it a notch above the unsigned copies that already turn up rarely.
Interesting Facts
- Attila was a power/heavy metal trio from Amersfoort, Netherlands, active through the mid-to-late 1980s.
- Violent Streets was self-released as a private-press 12" in 1988 — no outside label, a common route for Dutch metal bands of the era.
- All six tracks were written by guitarist/vocalist Herbie Vanderloo, except "Sad Cry (Of A Soldier)," for which Auke-Peter Gijsbertse wrote the lyrics.
- Recorded at Trinity Studios and engineered by Faas v/d Pol, who gets a cheeky "extra special thanx... for beeing Faas v/d Pol" credit on the sleeve.
- The back-cover thanks list name-checks the Hungarian band Pokolgép alongside local Amersfoort venues and shops — a small trace of the era's cross-border metal tape-trading network.
