The Amazing Howard Hughes covers the full sweep of Hughes' life: the Hollywood years, the record-breaking flights, the paranoia and the isolation, the billion-dollar empire run from darkened hotel rooms. At 215 minutes, this is not a summary — it is a portrait.

Jones was in his late twenties when this was made, and the film benefits from casting a young actor as Hughes at the height of his powers rather than working backwards from decline. The production, directed by William A. Graham, is clearly TV in scope but not in ambition — the aviation sequences especially hold genuine excitement. This Hungarian Caesar Film edition includes both parts of the original broadcast on a single disc with full Hungarian and English audio.
