Overview

In 西岳奇童 – Saving Mother (上集), the classic animated tale unfolds against the majestic backdrop of Huashan. The story follows the courageous young boy 沉香, who studies at a school within a secluded academy at the foot of Huashan. During class recess, after standing up for a bullied classmate, he is brutally insulted with the remark, "沉香没有妈，你妈是妖精!" Deeply hurt, he returns home yearning for his mother. His father, 刘彦昌, reluctantly reveals that his mother is none other than the revered 三圣公主—imprisoned beneath Lotus Peak by the formidable 杨戬.

Fuelled by this painful revelation and clutching the treasured “沉香宝带” left by his mother, 沉香 embarks on a perilous journey. He overcomes countless trials and eventually encounters 朝霞姑姑, who divulges the treacherous deeds of 杨戬 stealing the princess’s 宝莲神灯 and causing harm to 刘彦昌’s family. With a burning determination to rescue his suffering mother, 沉香 turns his wrath against his treacherous uncle and, under the guidance of 朝霞姑姑, becomes a disciple of the enigmatic 霹雳大仙. To test his sincerity, the great master tempts him with the delights of a blissful world; yet, even amidst temptation, 沉香’s heart remains fixed on saving his mother. Upon consuming the mystical “九九二虎,” his strength multiplies, empowering him to set forth on his mission to free his mother from the confines of Lotus Peak.
