Overview

PK (transl. Tipsy; Hindi pronunciation: [piakar]) is a thought-provoking 2014 Indian satirical comedy-drama film directed by Rajkumar Hirani and co-written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi. The story follows an alien who arrives on Earth for a research mission but finds himself stranded after losing the remote control for his spaceship to a thief. As the alien adapts to life on Earth, he befriends a television journalist, Jaggu, who becomes intrigued by his peculiar quest to retrieve his remote. Throughout his adventures, the alien questions various religious dogmas and superstitions, leading to humorous yet insightful commentary on human beliefs and practices.

The film opens with the alien landing in Rajasthan, where he is left naked and vulnerable after his remote is stolen. Meanwhile, Jaggu falls in love with a Pakistani Muslim named Sarfaraz, but their relationship faces obstacles due to religious differences. When Jaggu's father seeks the counsel of a godman, predicting Sarfaraz will betray her, Jaggu is determined to prove him wrong. However, heartbreak ensues when she believes Sarfaraz has called off their marriage.

Upon returning to India as a TV reporter, Jaggu encounters the alien, who is on a mission to find his "missing" God. Their interactions lead to comedic situations as the alien, who has learned about human culture and communication through trial and error, navigates the complexities of religion and belief systems.
