Overview

• The mechanical shark used in the film was famously nicknamed "Bruce" by Spielberg, after his lawyer.
• Because the mechanical shark constantly malfunctioned, Spielberg was forced to use suggestiveness (John Williams' iconic score and floating yellow barrels) to represent the shark, which many critics believe made the film much scarier.
• Jaws was the first film to reach the $100 million mark at the box office, changing Hollywood's distribution model forever.
• The famous line "You're gonna need a bigger boat" was actually ad-libbed by Roy Scheider.
