Overview
Directed by Kornél Mundruczó, White God (Fehér Isten) is a powerful allegorical drama that blends social realism with a thrilling survival story. Officially selected in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, the film follows the bond between a 13-year-old girl, Lili, and her dog Hagen in a society where mixed-breed dogs are heavily taxed and abandoned.
When Hagen is cast out onto the streets of Budapest, he must learn to survive alone, eventually joining other strays in a desperate fight for freedom. What begins as a personal journey of loss and resilience evolves into a dramatic uprising, as abandoned dogs rise against their human oppressors. With striking imagery and emotional depth, White God explores themes of loyalty, marginalization, and rebellion.
