Overview
Széttört álmok (Broken Dreams) represents the "third chapter" of the legendary Hungarian fusion band, Syrius. This album captures the 1976 recordings of a band in transition. Following the departure of iconic bassist/vocalist Jackie Orszáczky, the group reformed with Tamás Turai on vocals and a powerful brass section featuring Ákos Molnár and Károly Sipos.
The title track, originally a 28-minute suite, was born out of a period of creative tension. As noted in the booklet by bandleader Zsolt Baronits, the lyrics were initially deemed too "pessimistic" by the state record label (MHV) head, Péter Erdős. Under pressure, the band reworked the material, resulting in the soulful, complex tracks heard on this disc. This CD edition also includes three rare bonus tracks that were previously unavailable.
