Overview

Set in the 1950s, Könyörtelenek (internationally known as Evil or Ondskan) is a powerful exploration of the nature of violence and the strength of the human spirit. The story follows Erik, a young man who has grown up in a household defined by his stepfather's brutality. When his own violent outbursts lead to his expulsion from public school, his mother sends him to the elite Stjarnsberg boarding school. Erik hopes for a fresh start, but he quickly discovers that the school is governed by a cruel system of "student-monitored" discipline where older students terrorize the younger ones. To survive, Erik must learn to resist the institutionalized bullying without becoming the very monster he is fighting against.
