Overview

25 év Rock is a unique and incredibly rare artifact in the history of Hungarian progressive rock. Released in 1993 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the band Mini, this CD does not contain a standard studio session or a polished live concert. Instead, it captures the raw, improvisational energy of a "closed-door main rehearsal" held in Paks.

Led by the charismatic flutist and vocalist Török Ádám, the performance brings together the most iconic musicians associated with the band's long history. The tracklist includes definitive versions of "Gőzhajó," "Kereszteslovag," and "Délelőtt," performed with a level of spontaneity only found in a rehearsal setting. Because this was a limited release sponsored by regional entities (including the Paks Nuclear Power Plant), very few copies exist, and even fewer bear the authentic signatures of the musicians involved.

Interesting Facts

  • The Paks Connection: The album was largely supported by local Paks enterprises, including the Paksi Atomerőmű RT (Nuclear Power Plant), making it a rare piece of regional musical heritage.
  • Speedy Production: According to the back cover, this entire CD was manufactured within 24 hours of the master tape being finalized—a remarkable feat for 1993.
  • A Fusion of Eras: The recording features both the early "Bach-rock" influence of keyboardist Gyula Papp and the later hard-blues influence of guitarists János Závodi and Tibor Tátrai.
  • Török Ádám’s Legacy: As the central figure of the Hungarian "flute-rock" movement, Török's performance here is a masterclass in jazz-rock fusion.
