Overview
Bach's Flute Sonatas: Dialogue of Virtuosity and Intimacy
This double LP presents the complete sonatas of Johann Sebastian Bach for flute and harpsichord, as well as for flute and continuo. The selection spans the master’s Köthen period—an era of secular focus and chamber experimentation—and includes some of the most elegant and intricate examples of 18th-century trio sonata form.
Miloš Jurkovič, one of Czechoslovakia’s leading flautists, offers a precise yet expressive interpretation, joined by the legendary harpsichordist Zuzana Růžičková. Juraj Alexander adds cello continuo in the works requiring basso accompaniment, completing a historically grounded yet vividly engaging performance.
