The Baermann Partnership: Weber’s clarinet works were inspired by his friendship with the virtuoso Heinrich Baermann. Weber was so impressed by Baermann's playing that he wrote the Concertino in just three days.
Dual Mastery: Michael Collins is one of the few musicians today who successfully balances a world-class career as both a premier wind soloist and a respected conductor.
The "Multiphonic" Horn: The Horn Concertino is famous among brass players for a passage where the soloist is required to sing one note while playing another, creating a "chord" on a single-note instrument.
Romance in E minor: The Horn Concertino (Op. 45) was revised by Weber in 1815, showcasing his growth as a dramatist between his early years and his operatic success.
