Overview

All of Me (Hungarian: Az egész életem) is a 1984 American fantasy comedy film directed by Carl Reiner and stars Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin. The film is based on the unpublished novel Me Two by Edwin Davis and features the classic 1931 song "All of Me" as its title theme.

The narrative centers around Roger Cobb (Steve Martin), a 38-year-old attorney who is dissatisfied with his life. He is dating his boss's daughter while also aspiring to be a jazz guitarist. His life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters Edwina Cutwater (Lily Tomlin), a wealthy and eccentric millionairess who has been bedridden since childhood.

Edwina, who has hired Roger's law firm to manage her estate, reveals that she is dying and wishes to make unusual final arrangements to her will. To achieve her goal, she seeks the help of a mystic named Prahka Lasa (Richard Libertini), who possesses the secret of transferring human souls. Edwina plans to have her soul placed in the body of Terry Hoskins (Victoria Tennant), a beautiful young woman, so she can experience youth and health once more.

Roger is tasked with changing Edwina's will to ensure that Terry, her future self, becomes her sole beneficiary. Initially skeptical, Roger thinks the entire plan is "bananas."

When Edwina dies at the law office, the soul-transfer works, but the bowl containing her soul falls out the window and hits Roger, resulting in Edwina's soul sharing his body. This leads to humorous complications as she controls the right side of his body while he controls the left. The arrangement causes Roger to lose both his girlfriend and his job. He can hear Edwina's thoughts and even converses with her image in mirrors and reflective surfaces.

As their relationship evolves, both Roger and Edwina want her out of his body. Meanwhile, Terry, who initially agreed to the soul transfer for Edwina's fortune, becomes shocked to realize it actually worked. She tries to prevent Roger from finding the mystic by sending him away with a plane ticket. However, when the guru unexpectedly reappears, she refuses to cooperate.
