A Közép-Európai Fejlesztési Egyesület gondozásában megjelent válogatás célja, hogy a történelmi eseményekről és azok értelmezéséről tárgyilagosan, de nem semlegesen szóljon – tudatosan szembefordulva a mai kor történelemhamisító tendenciáival.

A kötet tanulmányai érintik a társadalom demokratizálódását, az oktatás szerepét, a nők helyzetét, a vallás kérdéseit, valamint a tudomány fejlődését, miközben rámutatnak arra, hogy 1917 Októbere valóban megváltoztatta a világot.
