Charles Caldwell Ryrie was born on March 2, 1925. He is the editor of The Ryrie Study Bible by Moody Publishers, which contains more than 10,000 of Dr. Ryrie's explanatory notes. First published in 1978, it has sold more than 2 million copies. Ryrie is a graduate of Haverford College, Dallas Theological Seminary, where he earned his Th.M. and Th.D. and the University of Edinburgh, Scotland where he earned his Ph.D. For many years he served as professor of systematic theology and dean of doctoral studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. He was also the president of Philadelphia School of the Bible.
