The film is about Father Pio’s last Mass, celebrated on September 22, 1968. The church of San Giovanni Rotondó was crowded with more than twenty thousand people. Father Pio was already feeling very unwell, yet he had exposed the most sacred sacrifice to the Eucharist. The saint knew it was time for his death. He collapsed after the ceremony, saying the hour was approaching. Father Pio walked away like a child's soul: simply, peacefully. At half past three it was the last time he took a breath and saw his Savior whose wounds he had been wearing for fifty years. In the documentary I Am with You, we see how Father Pio implements his sacred plan to create a hospital for the poor, the House of Relief. The film presents shocking documentary footage of the great saint.

Padre Pio, also known as Saint Pio of Pietrelcina (Italian: Pio da Pietrelcina; 25 May 1887 – 23 September 1968), was an Italian friar, priest, stigmatist and mystic, now venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church. Born Francesco Forgione, he was given the name of Pius (Italian: Pio) when he joined the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin.

Padre Pio became famous for exhibiting stigmata for most of his life, thereby generating much interest and controversy. He was both beatified (1999) and canonized (2002) by Pope John Paul II. The Sanctuary of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina is located in San Giovanni Rotondo, Province of Foggia, Italy.

Hungarian Summary:

A film Pio atya utolsó szentmiséjéről szól, melyet 1968. szeptember 22-én celebrált. A San Giovanni Rotondó-i templomban több mint húszezer ember zsúfolódott be. A film megrendítő dokumentum felvételeket mutat be a nagy szentről.

- Pio atya
