Israeli filmmaker Ari Folman employs a unique animated style in this innovative documentary that recalls his military service in the early 1980s. When he talks to a friend with whom he served during the invasion of Lebanon, Folman realizes he has very little memory of those days. Interviewing various friends and compatriots, he uses cartoon images to re-create their stories in an effort to help him remember his own experiences. 90 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: Hebrew Dolby Digital 5.1, English Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; featurettes. In Hebrew with English subtitles/Dubbed in English.

"Waltz with Bashir" is a journey film drawn in the depths of the consciousness of director and screenwriter Ari Pullman, who tries to trace three days in the First Lebanon War that were erased from his memory without leaving a trace. What begins with twenty-six mad dogs running in a fit of rage on Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv. Continued in fleeting encounters with a childhood friend in snowy Holland. Takes a psychedelic turn in the clubs of Haifa from the beginning of the eighties, and goes on and on in Surrealist Beirut during the war. Human memory is deceptive, and only free drawings combined with
Marvelous animation can. Maybe. To put a deliberate hand on those missing days from the distant past.
