English Summary:

Preliminary and Interim Report on the Hebrew Old Testament Text Project - Prophetical Books Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations
This preliminary and interim report of the international and interconfessional Committee of the Hebrew Old Testament Text Project, sponsored by the United Bible Societies, is both tentative and summary. It is being made available to Bible translators and scholars on a periodic basis, so as to provide a summary analysis of the continuing work of the Committee. Judgments recorded in this and subsequent reports are, however, subject to revision as the work of the Committee progresses. When the review of Old Testament textual problems is completed, a full scientific report will be published. This will consist of several volumes, in which will be presented a full list of the significant textual data, a complete discussion of the reasons which formed the basis for the decisions of the Com- mittee, and more extensive advice to translators and exegetes concerning related problems of meaning. But in view of the urgent need to supply Bible translators with the preliminary judgments of the Committee on a wide range of textual problems (Old Testament translation committees are now at work in more than 150 languages) a summary listing of important problems, suggested solutions, and reasons for the textual decisions has been regarded as essential.
