In this work the author deals with five years most of which Liszt spent in Hungary, which so far owing to the failure to research them thoroughly have only been known to scholars and Liszt devotees in odd details. By an exhaustive investigation into the contemporary Hungarian, Italian and German language press the author has filled in a large number of gaps in the life of Liszt, and through the reports written by contemporary critics and friends he has given an account of the Liszt compositions.
