INTRODUCTORY LECTURES New Testament Volume I THE GOSPELS by WILLIAM KELLY / STUDY OF THE GOSPELS / BELIEVERS BOOKSHELF PO BOX 261 SUNBURY, PENNSYLVANIA

The past century produced some remarkable men - men whom God used mightily to expound His precious Word. Mr. Kelly was one of them. An outstanding scholar-yes; but far more. He deeply loved the Word of God and the precious Saviour of whom it speaks from cover to cover. When many of his ecclesiastical contemporaries had capitulated to a biblical criticism which deeply undermined confidence in the inspired Word of God, Mr. Kelly remained true to "... the faith once for all delivered to the saints." The rapid rate at which his writings are being reprinted bears eloquent testimony to their abiding value.

THE Volume before the reader pretends to be nothing more than a rapid sketch of the four inspired accounts of our blessed Lord, which the Holy Ghost has been pleased to give for our instruction and joy  through the faith of Him who is there revealed to us. Eleven discourses delivered in London (between May 31st and June 20th, 1866) did not afford much space for details. Taken in shorthand, they were corrected by the lecturer, with additions and retrenchments. He now commits the book, spite of shortcoming abundant, to His blessing who loved the Church and gave Himself for it, who still nourishes and cherishes it with tender care. May He graciously pardon every thought, feeling, and word inconsistent with Himself! May He deign to own and use the thing spoken of Him that is right!

Some Bible scholars esteem Mr. Kelly's "Introductory Lecture Series" to be the simplest and most helpful of all his books. Perhaps it's because of his expressed intention to trace in each inspired book the perfect
design of the Spirit of God; and to explore how this design varies from book to book and yet results in a unified and magnificent revelation of God's mind and will. A unique feature of this series is a single sentence summary of every page of the book in the table of contents.
