Jonathan Edwards (1703-1758) was ordained to the ministry of the Congregational Church, at Northampton, Massachusetts, in 1727, after an experience of conversion. His ministry was blessed by a remarkable religious revival, which led to his writing several books on the subject minutely analysing the experience.
