English Description:

This present work differs in many respects from jazz books known so far. The author has not written an ordinary jazz history but, rather, a mosaic with a huge quantity of detail which often entrusts the reader to draw his or her own conclusions. This will probably provoke disputes as people interested in and attracted to jazz have had divided opinions for decades.

The division that exists between listeners and musicians is perceptible in Hungary, too. Simply stated, jazz fans can be divided into modernists and traditionalists, the arguments for which being so well-known that it is enough to invoke some of them here that the book may be better understood.
