Kamillo Lendvay was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1928. He is composer, conductor and teacher. From 1973 till 1991 Lendvay was a university professor at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest. Before that he was employed as director of music at the State Puppet Theatre and at the Municipal Operetta Theatre in Budapest. He was awarded several prizes in international competitions, for instance with his Concerto for cello and his opera La Putain respectueuze. The Stabat Mater, a Via Crucis and an organ piece were composed by commission of the French Ministry of Culture. The Via Crucis also contains a short Stabat Mater.
